Dr. Vera Stevens Chatman is a nationally respected psychologist and Professor Emeritus with over four decades of experience in higher education, health equity, and community empowerment. Her work sits at the vital intersection of caregiving, mental wellness, and faith-informed leadership.


As the Founder and President of Dr. Vera’s Resource Network (DVRN), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, she is dedicated to empowering caregivers and grassroots organizations through evidence-informed practice and compassionate advocacy.
Dr. Vera holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and has earned numerous accolades for her leadership, including the YWCA Academy of Women of Achievement induction, Leadership Nashville and the Nashville Business Journal Women of Influence Inspiration/Mentor Award
